1. Shipping Fees & Coverage

  • Flat Rate Express Livestock: $30.00 Australia-wide.

  • Coverage: We ship to VIC, NSW, QLD, SA, and ACT.

  • Biosecurity Exclusions: Due to strict quarantine regulations, we do not ship live snails to the Northern Territory, Tasmania, or Western Australia.

  • Service: All orders are sent via Australia Post Express to ensure the shortest possible time in transit.

2. Professional Packing Standards

We take the stress out of shipping live aquatic life by exceeding industry standards:

  • Climate Control: Every order is shipped inside a high-density insulated thermal esky to protect your snails from extreme temperature fluctuations.

  • Advanced Gas Exchange (Breather Bags): We use specialized breather bags that allow oxygen in and carbon dioxide out.

  • Water Volume Note: Please do not be alarmed by the low water volume in your transit bags. Breather bags are designed to work with a small amount of water (approx. 150ml–200ml per snail) to maximize the surface area for gas exchange. In contrast, a traditional non-breather bag would require 500ml+ of water and a large pocket of stale air, which is far less stable for the animal.

  • Water Quality & Safety: Every shipping bag is treated with Seachem AmGuard, a powerful ammonia binder that remains active for up to 72 hours.

3. Dispatch & Weather Protocols

  • Livestock Dispatch Days: We dispatch live specimens on Mondays and Tuesdays only to prevent snails from being held in sorting depots over the weekend.

  • Order Cut-off: Livestock orders placed after 1:00 PM Tuesday will be held for dispatch the following Monday.

  • Weather Holds: Shell & Fin Aquatics reserves the right to delay dispatch if extreme heat (35°C+) is forecast. You will be notified via email if a weather hold is placed.

4. Delivery & Liability

  • Authority to Leave (ATL): All items are sent with Authority to Leave. It is the buyer’s sole responsibility to ensure the parcel is collected from the doorstep immediately upon delivery.

  • The 1-Hour Window: Regardless of ATL, the unboxing video required for a DOA claim must be filmed and sent within 1 hour of the official Australia Post delivery timestamp.

  • Approved Addresses Only: We ship to residential or business street addresses and Post Offices (Parcel Collect) only.

  • No Parcel Lockers: We do not ship to Parcel Lockers as the lack of ventilation and temperature control creates a significant risk to livestock.

  • Replacement Shipping: In the event of a verified DOA where a replacement is requested, the buyer is responsible for the new Express Shipping fee ($30). Original shipping fees are non-refundable.
